The Lone Ranger

Forecast was for a snowstorm and a week of some sub-zero temps.   No one here in the Northwoods seemed too concerned.  First of all we've had little snow plus warmer temps than normal so we aren't sick of winter yet.  Then the snow was going to amount to only a few inches - maybe as much as six.  Can drive through that if you are careful.  The temps will fall as low as the sub-teens.  Actually we want really cold temps for at least a few days each winter - keeps the invasive plants and insects from the south from getting a foothold here.   Cold enough though for me to take some precautions.  Threw my sleeping bag into the back of the car along with an extra pair of gloves and knit hat.  In case the car gets stuck, I can stay warm.  The snowstorm was accompanied by winds so even though we didn't get much snow the driveway did have small drifts.  Like the Lone Ranger, the plow guy drove in to the rescue at first light.   This was his first plow for the season and he did it differently.  Not much snow so he didn't make a pile on the lawn but pushed it all off to the east toward the stockade.  Works better for wind flow, where any loose gravel ends up, and melting in the spring.  He crowned the driveway - allows for melted snow to run off and there is room on either side to pile snow from possible future storms.  The only problem I still have is convincing Texas-born Whip to run around outside.
