Off Highway O
Heard the cold front come through just before I got up. Big item on my list of things to do was mow. However the grass was really wet w/ dew. Ran a load of clothes and hung them on the line. Temps might be cool but the wind will dry them fast. Wind wasn't drying the grass though. Got down the plastic tarps and covered the plant tiers in Sleipnir. Will keep the wood dry when I water this winter. Speaking of dry, checked the grass. Could still see shimmering dots of dew. Called for Whip and we went on a walk. Usually we do it in the afternoon but I've got library duty tonight. My shoes were soaked when we got back so no mowing yet. Made lunch and then went outside to check. Yes! Dry grass. Got out Svaldfari and mowed the trails. Came back and mowed the lawn. I have two trails near the house still to do but was running out of time. Brought in the clothes off the line and took a much needed shower. Time for library duty. Busy first two hours but slow for the last hour. Part of the library's close-up procedure is to check the front and back doors of the connected village hall. We keep our doors to that area open so people at the library can use the bathrooms. Plus the village sometimes allow the DNR or Accessor to use their offices after hours and they can forget to lock their front door when they leave. Mostly our checking village doors is just pro forma. So was totally surprised when I hit the back door and it flew open. Thought it would have an inside lock like the front doors but it needs a key to lock it. I don't have the key. The library has a key for their back door though. Went looking for ours. Nope, the person who opens tomorrow probably has it because the librarian is on vacation. Also means I can't call the librarian. Looked up the village website. They name the town officers but the phone numbers given are all the same - probably the office number. Called it in case they had an emergency contact but they didn't. Started googling the names on the list to get home numbers. Finally a supervisor answered who said he didn't have a key but thought he knew where they hid it. He gave me the number of another officer who said he did have a key. Both guys arrived at the same time and were able to lock up. I'll have to update our close-up procedures.
