Russell and Donna

High winds on Christmas Eve.  The plow guy had come the day before to clean out the couple of inches of light snow but I hadn't seen him that day.  Russ & Donna were coming over for dinner.  I made the bad decision to check out the drifts in my driveway w/ my car.  Got stuck part way down.  W/ the sun setting I called over to Neighbor Doug to see if he could pull my car out.  He and his two sons came over in the truck (which had no problem w/ the drifts).  Fortunately they were able to get me clear fairly quickly.  Figured Russ and Donna would be home from work by then so called to let them know my drive was impassable.  Before long there were lights at the end of the drive and Russ on his tractor was blowing out the drive.  He also had to do his own drive so by the time they arrived at my place, he was frozen to the bones.  I sat him next to the fireplace and gave him a cup of hot cider.  We ate and then opened gifts.  I moved things along since the wind was still blowing and I didn't want them to get stuck in my drive if it drifted badly again.  Watched as they left down the drive and texted to see that they got home.  Turned around and saw that dessert was still sitting on the counter.  Oops.  Today I spent most of the day on the sofa.  Tonight my phone reminded me that tomorrow is 'observed' Christmas (since Christmas fell on a Sunday) and did I want to change my wakeup time to something later?  Guess not.  The dog expects to go out and the birds are lined up ready for me to fill the feeders.  There was a reason when I worked that I only had cats.

Merry Christmas!
You have great neighbors!
We are looking forward to warmer weather and less wind in Indiana, too!

Glad it worked out for Russ and Donna to make it over. Cold and windy in TX. but no blizzards.
