Spelling

Lamperts is the company that provided all of the building materials for the garage.  I know my general contractor spelled my name correctly.  I know early on I had gently corrected Lamperts personnel that my name was spelled w/ an 'a' and not an 'e'.  (Didn't want any orders mixed up.)   However this countertop, which was one of the last things delivered, still had an incorrect spelling.  The garage door came from a different company and the sticker on that was 'Susan Maier'.  Seemed a little odd that two companies couldn't spell a fairly easy name like 'Mayer.'  Afterall, I live in a community with Czeskleba's, Eyvindsson's Follansbeedelong's, Gjevre's, Myszka's, Hlava's, etc.  However, I'm not hung up on the spelling nor even the pronunciation of my last name.  As Grandpa would say, 'Call me anything you want, just don't call me late for dinner."

Some of my teachers at Bruce would pronounce it like Maier.

In high school, my English teacher called my name in the roll call as, "Rebeccer Mayes" I couldn't decide if that was really funny or just sad.
