Turtle watching
Friend Kathy had as her book-of-the-month in March Where the Crawdads Sing. Friend Nancy wanted to read it. Nancy ordered it from the library system. She was 300-some on the waiting list for the book and she asked me how long before she'd get the book. We are in the same system of linked libraries so I looked on-line and saw that, while Nancy's local library had not ordered a copy of the book, my library had. Last year all of the libraries put in a new rule: if there was a waiting list for a book, the patrons of that library had first dibs on their library's copy of the book. I was opposed to the rule since it favored the larger libraries. Here was my chance to see if the rule worked for everyone. I signed onto the library system and ordered Where the Crawdads Sing. Since I did it some days after Nancy, I was close to being the 400th person on the waiting list. However, the new rule worked to my advantage and I was notified that Where the Crawdads Sing was waiting for me in less than a month. I'd already checked what the book was about and wasn't interested in it since if was a fiction book with no crime to solve and nothing blows up. I picked up the book from the library, called Nancy, drove over to her place, and delivered the book to her. When she's finished reading it she can drop it off at her library. I got a free lunch from Nancy for driving over. Win-Win.

But there is a crime...
I informed her of that as well this morning at breakfast (which I also paid for). Looks like a Win-Win-Win for her!
