Tree Swallow on PVC house

Did my outside tasks today.  This morning Indy and I did our first check for the year on the bird houses.  I've yet to see a bluebird but the tree swallows are back.  Three houses had partial nests which surprised me - seemed a little early to be that far along.  Usually the birds spend a couple of weeks checking out sites and leaving a few dried stems of grass.  Did find another three houses w/ these 'place holders' in them.   This afternoon cleaned the outside of the windows. Congratulated myself on building a one-story home - no standing on ladders to wash windows.   Got the broom in the garage and swept the deck.  I'd hoped that the little rabbit 'pellets' would disappear w/ the snow but they still peppered the deck.  For such a simple task it was a little surreal.  There was a very stiff wind and when I swept the pellets out from under deck furniture they would swirl and jump w/ the wind.  At one point had a whole bunch of them rolling toward me and I reflexively jumped out of the way to let them pass and careen on off the edge.  Tomorrow temps will fall below freezing again but hopefully no more snow.

Good to see the birds are back. Saw a humming bird at the Senior Center feeder down here in TX. Was thinking you see them in early May?
