Pussy willows

On Wednesday the courier comes before the library opens so the volunteer on duty has books to check in and notifications to go out to the patrons.  Many people come in that day to pick up the books they've been waiting for.  From 10 - 11:30 the library hosts Coffee and Conversation.  It's open to anyone but is mostly made up of retirees who like to have a cup of coffee and talk about what's going on.    The book club meets in the library in the afternoon. They had already left when I came on duty at 4:30 but there were a group of boys at the back table playing a game.  A little later the cub scouts met and then left - their project today was to plant pine trees.  The boys at the back table finished up and stopped by my desk.  They were looking for a new spot for their Dungeons and Dragons game and wondered if they could meet at the library on a regular basis.   I said I didn't think that would be a problem but if they wrote down their e-mail address  I would have the librarian contact them.  As they were leaving, in came a group of men and an older teenager.   The teenager wanted to make path(s) through village owned land as his scout project.  The men there were either village elders or boy scout leaders.  They discussed plans until the library closed at 7.  Get to see a cross section of the community when you volunteer at the library.
