Took Russell into the Big City for a checkup after his eye surgery. We enjoyed the trip in by catching up and making a lot of bad puns (Russell has a knack for them). Got there in plenty of time for his 12:40 appointment but the waiting room was practically full which did not bode well for the doc being on time. That was the case and we didn't get out of there until well after 3:00. Neither of us had eaten since breakfast so we stopped for a bite before setting off for home. Then we got slowed down by road construction. It's the deer rut season and they become very active after dark. Around 6:00 p.m. the drive started feeling like the end of a Dracula movie - trying to reach home before sunset.
