What a difference two days can make

I usually take Indy to a large animal vet. He sees pets early in the morning before he starts traveling to farms. My problem is I work in the mornings and only if I can catch him in the office in the afternoon will he see Indy. I tried a couple of times over the last two weeks but he wasn't around so I finally gave up and made an appointment w/ the other vet. Her practice is only small animals. I prefer my usual vet because he treats Indy like a dog as opposed to the other vet that seems to think of her as a small hairy person. For example, I brought Indy into the small animal vet today. Indy had a concerned look in her eyes and the vet said, "Don't worry, your mom is right here." I immediately corrected the vet. "We are only roomies." I insisted. The vet said she was sorry but within a few moments was referring to me as "mom" again. (Indy's mother was a real bitch and I rankle at the reference to me.) There was nothing else to do but grit my teeth and bear it. Indy needed all of her shots before the little nasty insects and microbes woke up from their winter sleep. Did it just in time too - found a tick crawling on me after the walk.

I found a tick in my hair this morning when I walked through the backwoods to the prairie burn just beyond.

Your stories always make me laugh. I don't think I could've restrained myself from busting out laughing if I had been in the same room when the vet called you "Indy's mom"! ;-) That just doesn't fit you at all!
