Sunrise on a snowy morning

Raining most of the day. The snow mound outside of the house has gone down enough to reveal where I had left the bottom branches I'd cut off the Christmas tree. Covered and frozen for four months, they are still green. I dragged them out into the part of the field that isn't hayed where they will eventually disintegrate. Speaking of disintegration, I checked on the experiment with plaster figurines I had left in the field seven years ago when I first moved here. They all have been surprisingly resilient for being through multiple freeze-thaw cycles, hot sun, and rain. Jerry Ford, the giraffe, has lost his head & neck. Spot, the zebra, is still looking very good however he is entirely white now. Jefferson and Jackson, the lion cubs, have some cracks but are still intact. Now that the sun has set, the rain has turned to snow. Actually, rather pretty.

It'd be pretty in February. April 22 - not so much.
