Edge of the woods on a snowy eve

A lot going on at the dairy this morning.  Tuesday is vet check day. As usual, the herdsman gave me a list of cows to mark w/ a crayon before they left the parlor. Makes it easier to find the cows whose pregnancy will be checked by the vet when he arrives at 9 a.m. The herdsman also brought out the sprayer. Cows can get warts on their back feet which will cause them to limp. The spray inhibits wart growth so we spray the cow's feet periodically. The herdsman also gave us a list of cows that she wanted to see when they came in and she asked that I check cow #889. Other shifts had reported she had mastitis in her right front teat.  On top of that,  I was milking w/ Tommy. He's still pretty new and forgets some things. I felt exhausted after just the first 80 cows.  Cows don't like having someone color on their head nor having their feet sprayed. They respond to feeling nervous by pooping - a lot. When we finally finished up, I decided to stop at Dairy Queen and treat myself to a Peanut Buster Parfait - using the drive-thru of course!
