Tuesday

Twenty below zero this morning. Fear/excitement gripped me as I got dressed and ate my breakfast - this is the kind of weather where you need to keep sharp. A mistake in judgement that would just be a nuisance in summer could be life-threatening when it gets to these temps. Besides machinery requiring coaxing to even run, there is the added mental challenge to disregard the cold and get your work done. Once home again, I sat down in my shower, let the hot water cascade over me, and thought, "This is why I like winter - it makes you feel so alive."

LOL! ... you know it's really cold when your bronchi and lungs burn with every breath.

I keep thinking a portable electric generator might be a wise insurance policy. We all are so helpless when power drops.
