Summer is here. Tonight is the latest sunset of the year (which is different than the longest day which happened last week.) Everywhere hay fields are being cut, crimped, dried, raked, and baled. The field next to me is at the drying stage. The first brood of tree swallows and blue birds have fledged. Phil and Sheila cleaned out the old nests so the boxes are ready for the next occupants. My peonies have finished blooming but the lilies have started opening up. Today was hot and humid and tomorrow will be more of the same. I suppose everyone has something besides the calendar that tells them it's finally summer. Got a favorite?

Hostas are blooming, lower deck is cooler than upper and kids are in that la-la land between relaxed and bored. But, the main indicator is that your brother and I have had our first conference and planning session about my next home improvement project. This teacher loves summer.
Isn't the darker pink one Joe Pye weed?
No. Joe Pye weed isn't blooming yet. The July 28, 2009 or August 8, 2010 blog entries have pics of Joe Pye weed if you want to compare.
