Memorial Day

I like the cemetery in town - well, as much as one likes cemeteries. It's not one of those modern ones where all of the tombstones must be alike and at ground level. Here there are tombstones in different colors - greys, mirror black, red granite, and white. Most tombstones are in symmetrical shapes but I found some in the shape of angels, crosses, and one black Angus bull. The engravings vary from pictures to inspirational to family sayings. It's a comfortable feeling to walk along the paths and recognize the surnames of neighbors and friends. This morning, I put out potted flowers at my grandparents, parents, brother, and niece's graves. As I've said before; I am convinced that, should I put out anything other than real flowers on Memorial Day, my grandmother would reach a bony arm out of the sod and grab my wrist. OK... maybe that is unlikely but I wouldn't tempt her.

Your basket looks much better than mine. I think your Grandmother will be happy.

Thank you for doing that every year and for taking such care with it all.
