Peony bushes

My neighbor, Blake, mowed the field next to my house on Tuesday afternoon.  Since there isn't a lot of clover in it, the hay was dry enough today for him to rake and bale it.    Blake will take the bales off later for his cattle.  He's also helping Brent out by mowing & baling the field this week.  Brent needs a place that is 150 feet away from any building where he can shoot fireworks from and w/ the tall grass out of the way, that field is perfect.  Mowing the field also benefits me.  The other side of the house has a field which doesn't get mowed and I've learned a lot observing the differences between what grows and how the animals react to the two environments.  So it's a win-win situation.  Well, maybe not for the voles.   They now run around exposed in the short grass.  Just can't get a break when you are at the bottom of the food chain.
