Staghorn Cholla

A picture from my brother, Phil.

-5 degrees at 4:45 am when I started work.  However, the temps were dropping fast and bottomed out at -13 degrees.  So, when I walked out of work over an hour after the sun was up and it was 2 degrees colder than when I had walked in, I guess I should have been happier that it had actually warmed up.  The house was cool at 64 degrees and since I'm on off-peak heating, the furnace was off until much later tonight. However, the sun streaming through the south facing windows made it a toasty 72 degrees before noon.  After sunset, Indy and I took our last short walk out to the edge of the woods and back.  It was a flawlessly beautiful dusk w/ a clear sky full of emerging stars.  It'll be another frigid night though.

Like the picture! These trails are deceiving. We followed Uncle Rodney on these trails and he was chugging along with no problem. We were used to walking 4 miles a day but not on the inclines.
