Cloud-covered Sunrise

When I interviewed for my first job at an engineering firm, I was told I couldn't get the job I wanted because I would have to travel w/ men and they didn't allow that. I could be a secretary at the home office though. I needed the money and took the secretary job. My immediate boss realized I could learn property title searching which the company had been hiring lawyers to do. He taught me and sent me out on the road to different county seats. When the head of the company saw an expense account come back from a female, he hit the roof. He quickly calmed when told how much the company was saving by doing it's own title searching. If logic doesn't break down prejudice, money will.

Great story! Many of us who are over 50 have discrimination stories that younger women would find hard to believe. I think this would make a good book. It could be very funny as we had to overcome the issue with humor and sometimes just doing the job twice as well for much less money.
