Pussywillow Tree
A hummer stopped by the feeder yesterday. He took a big sip and took off. The same thing happened today. Don't know if these are birds on their way further north or just taking their time to check out the neighborhood (the pin cherry trees are in bloom in the woods so they might prefer them to the stuff I make). I was out of eggs so texted Russ to see if they had any for sale. He said they were going out of town right after work but if I wanted I could 'raid the hen house' while they were gone. Thought it might be interesting to go to their place tomorrow morning and gather eggs for my breakfast. However, Mother's Day plans are now in flux so Russell brought up a dozen and a half for me tonight. Pretty special to be out of eggs and have farm fresh ones delivered to my house. On the constitutional tonight Whip and I saw our first dragonfly of the season. Besides the pin cherries, the service berry, wild plum, and gooseberry are also in bloom. Stopped to admire a fairy circle of fiddleheads - think they are ostrich ferns but not sure. Gotta love spring.
