Cardinal

The first thing I do after dressing in the morning is take Whip on our constitutional.  That's why when I heard meowing from the garage I knew one of the cats had been locked in there all night.  I opened the door and out pranced Dunder.   He must have followed me in when I was putting some things away and I shut the door w/o realizing he was there. Over the winter I hadn't bothered to check that all of the pets were accounted for before I went to sleep but realized I'd better start doing it again.  Tonight I yawned and looked around.  Blitz was sitting on a nearby chair almost asleep.  Whip was laying on the couch next to me asleep & snoring.  I called for Dunder.  Nothing.  I checked his fav spots: computer chair, cat tower by the window, top of the cabinets in the kitchen.  Nothing.  I opened up the closed doors: guest bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, garage.  Nothing.   Maybe he slipped outside one of those times Whip let herself in the front door?  Too dark to see anything.  I turned on the outside lights by the front door and back door and called his name.  Nothing.  I waited a half hour.  This time I let Whip out to see if she could sniff him out.  Nothing.  I waited another half hour.  Temps had now dropped into the 40's.  Both of my cats like their 'creature comforts'.  I stepped out onto the deck and called "Dunder" just once. Heard a guttural meow and he came running down the deck and curled around my legs.  We were both happy to see each other - but maybe it's time to invest in cat tracker technology.
