Ski Hill lights

It's easy to fall asleep this time of year.  I'd finished my morning tasks and had sat down at the computer to bring some files up to date.  The next thing I remember is waking up, hands still on the keyboard, head bent forward.  Was a little surprised I could sleep balanced that way (though my neck was a little sore).  I'm pretty sure the reduction of sunlight in winter changes everyone's wake/sleep habits.  One friend mentioned today that they didn't mind winter if we just had snow.  (The rain between Christmas and New Year's has decimated the meager amount we did get.)  Think a snow pack actually modifies the effect of the long winter nights.  A brilliant white covering of snow has a high albedo.  That lengthens the twilight hours.   Plus it reflects so much light that sunglasses are more a necessity here in the winter than the summer.  Our current extensive hours of night, foggy days, and brown landscape means it's rather dark most of the day and, well, if I don't keep busy enough I tend to fall asleep.  Probably should take up skiing.  The ski hill is the only area that has snow, lots of light, and, as long as I stay balanced, it won't matter if I'm awake or asleep.

Glad to know I'm not the only one feeling like falling asleep sitting at the computer. I've come really close. Anita
