Hay Field

I leveled up on Words With Friends from Gilgamesh to the Aeneid.  So though I've read it before I ordered it through the library system for a reread.  It's already in transit to my local library.  Not surprising.   It's not a new novel where there is a list of people waiting to read it (Virgil wrote it around 20 B.C.)  It's a grand adventure tale but, depending on the translation, can be difficult to understand.  Virgil's original audience was well versed in Roman mythology so he felt no need to explain god and goddess relationships and back stories.  It's also a bit of  propoganda by way of legitimizing the rule of Augustus.    Ancient Roman politics isn't interesting to many people.  Me ... I can hardly wait for it to arrive!
