Library's Summer Reading Program

 

First night of the library's Summer Reading Program.   The theme this year is 'Adventure starts at the Library' or something like that.   I was impressed w/ the transformation that took place in our little library.  Tucked in here and there are colorful tents - four in all - where the younger children can duck in w/ a book and read.  Hung behind the tents are backdrops to give the illusion of being out in the woods,  in space, etc.   Even though it was the first night of the program, the library was pretty quiet.   Tonight's inaugural get-together for the children was set up at the park w/ a wildlife expert.    I only saw those kids and parents who were dropping off or picking up books.  While the program is geared for preschool up to preteens, they have divisions open to teenagers and also adults.  So I signed up.   Wouldn't mind myself sitting in one of those tents to read for awhile - or maybe take a snooze.
