Jigsaw Puzzle

Among the usual patrons at the library there were people picking up free tax forms (tiz the season).  There was a young man at the computer working on his resume.  He asked the librarian, then the volunteer before me, and finally me to look it over and check for grammer.  I did and gave him a hint of how I would improve it.  Assume we all must have had suggestions 'cause when he printed it out there were three different versions.  A lady looked through the books for sale and found three paperbacks.  The month of February, if you buy a romance book  it's only 20 cents.  I recognized the book's author and he writes mystery/thrillers. He does often have a love interest in them so I charged her the reduced price.  Another lady asked for books on growing vegetables in small areas.  As I said, in spring our thoughts turn to gardening.   I entered spreadsheet info on the Lego Club, Coffee and Conversation, Storytime, book club and the new teen book club (which isn't catching on very well despite the added enticement of free pizza).   Last week Brandon Steele (West Virginia delegate) called libraries "the sanctuary for pedophilia".   Yikes!  West Virginia and some other states have bills that would make librarians liable for showing a minor obscene material.  I looked up the government definition of 'obscene material' and it was what an average person considers indecent and has no redeeming quality.  I know a lot of average citizens and I'm pretty sure we would have varying ideas of what we considered 'obscene'.  Any average citizen, however, would realize these bills are just another method to ban books.  Tonight while I was putting away books in the adult section I saw a book being featured (i.e. front cover forward instead of by it's spine).  Unusual in this section though we do sometimes feature books in the children's section when the book is new or seasonal.   I might have left the book where it was but it happened to be authored by someone I consider particularily odious.   I took down the book and shelved it properly according to the Dewey Decimal System.   Wondered if I am as guilty of banning as those idiot lawmakers.  Decided mine was, at worst, only the sin of 'relegation'.
