One of the things I love about this time of year is the light. In summer, sunrise is too far north of east to be even seen through my southeast windows. It rises high in the sky quickly and only shines through those windows a little way into the house. It's a good thing in summer when extra heat isn't required. In winter the sun is rising more southernly. As soon as it starts to emerge above the horizon it's rays shoot through those southeast windows, across the length of the living room, down the study and into the master bedroom. I'm often seated at the computer at that time of the day so I notice the light suddenly firing past me. In the afternoon the same thing happens from the other direction. Yesterday I was wondering why the lights were on in the guest bathroom. As I stepped closer though it wasn't the lights but the sun coming in low through the southwest windows running unhindered through the length of the house, into that bathroom, and bouncing off the mirror over the sink. Whoever designed this house knew exactly what I'd like. Oh, yes, that would be me!
