Russell and Donna

Russell and Donna came over for Christmas Eve supper.  Got out the Christmas dishes and all of the cutlery that went with the menu - soup spoons, salad fork, regular fork, steak knife, butter knife, dessert fork (which I designated for the fresh fruit).    Mugs for egg nog or hot cider, glasses for sparkling cranberry juice, china cups for coffee.  The VCR wouldn't play my Christmas CD's for some reason so I just went to the on-line Advent calendar and turned iup the background music loud enough to be heard.  Lit a couple of candles around the room.  First course is soup of course - French Onion.  Also put out fresh fruits of cherries, oranges, pineapples, and strawberries.  Cleared away those dishes and brought out the salad plates I kept cold in the refridgerator.  Tossed a lettace salad along with chickpeas and toasted almonds.  That was served with warm wheat dinner rolls.  Main course was next - Swiss steak, mash potatos, and peas.   Afterward we opened our gifts while downing cookies with eggnog.  A good time but I may possibily never eat again.
