Sentinel Ash Road

A few warm days in October.  Time to do some more autumn 'restructuring'.  Removed the final two hummer feeders, washed them, and put them away w/ the others on a shelf in the utility room.  Also cleaned up the oriole feeder and it's little jelly cups and put them up there too.  Removed a brick of suet that didn't get much use during the summer.  I get more activity on them during the winter months.   Moved the shepherd's hooks to the SE side of the deck.  That's the side that I can reach the easiest when the snow drifts so high on the deck that I can't use it anymore.  Moved the little end tables from their positions next to the outdoor chairs to inside Sleipnir next to the windows.  They will function as the base for the first tier of plants to be overwintered.  The chairs, benches, and other outdoor furniture will stay out all winter.  Being baked in the sun or covered in snow has no effect on them.  I did move groups of them together on the deck so it will be harder for the wind to blow them off.  Tucked the little footrests under the chairs. Also moved the bench in front of Mjolnir over to one side.  It's not in the way of the snowplow guy being that close to the building but will be one less thing for him to be concerned about as he moves around.  Took down the Dancing Rabbit plaque, the Planet Saturn solar light, the lily pad bird bath, and the hanging bottle light and tucked them away in the tractor trailer.  Can't see them under all of the snow anyway.   Will leave out the solar lights just under the edge of the deck.  They too are covered w/ snow but get enough light that they shine through the snow which is neat to see in the long dark nights to come.  Cleaned out the herb pot.  I overwintered the parsley and chives from last year - will go w/ new plants next year.  Gradually gathering the potted plants in front of Mjolnir.  Will leave them out as long as I can before freezing weather threatens.
