From Christianson's Hill
Rain throughout the night on Friday. Saturday morning was overcast. The sun came out mid afternoon so Sheila, Phil, and I jumped in the car to go Leaf Peeping at the Ski Hill. Seems the whole countryside (and then some) had the same idea. As we neared the entrance, we saw cars parked on either side of the road. The ski hill has quite an ample parking lot that was absolutely packed. Found a spot close to the front though when someone pulled out to leave. We walked up to the chalet to get tickets but Phil noticed a long line of people winding from the chalet down the hill to the ski lift. Each seat on the lift takes - at most- three people. Figuring the length of the line and the slow ride to the top of the hill, we were pretty sure that there would still be people in line at 4 p.m. when the lift rides stopped running. We walked back to the car and maneuvered back out to the road. When Phil and I were children there weren't ski lift rides in Autumn. The 'in' thing to do was to drive the rustic Firelane road through forest land. So that's what we decided to do again. For good measure we drove along some of the other rural roads looking at the beautiful show Autumn puts on.
