First Frost

The weatherman said there were frost warnings further north in the state.  My go-to source for forecast on my phone and the one on my desktop both predicted 40 degree low overnight.  My phone this morning said it was 42 degrees when I got up.  However, that looks a lot like frost on the buildings and I walked out to a patch of glistening tall grass off the path and  each blade was covered w/ tiny crystals.  Looks like frost to me.  Hadn't brought in any of my potted plants.  Fortunately the frosted areas seemed to be spotty and I hope that the majority of my plants which are tucked up by the building will be unaffected.  Another group of birds have taken up temporary residence.  Flickers w/ their characteristic black necklace and white rump are hunting for grasshoppers.  Assume they are taking their time for a short hop to the south.  After library duty tonight, I needed to go to the town board meeting so I closed up the library 5 minutes early.  No one had been in for the last hour so wasn't shooing anyone out.  Wouldn't you know it, the librarian was sitting in the front row of seats.  She was getting next year's library budget signed by the board.  During the General Public Comment section of the meeting, I raised my hand and asked where the money people paid for building permits went.  Since I'm on the Planning Commission, Board Chairman Steve asked where I was going w/ that question.  "I'm trying to find out if people pay twice as much for building permits - once to the town and again to the county."   "Yes, they need to pay twice." was the answer.   Wonder if those people so adamant that the town take over it's own Zoning realize that?
