The Deck in Summer

I had an on-line meeting this afternoon.  After that I hung some freshly washed clothes on the line and watered the flowers on the deck.  Texted Neighbor Anita and asked if I could bop over w/ a 'present' for Neighbor Doug.  'Sure,' she texted back.  Jumped in Jormungandr and grabbed the rain gauge.  Doug texts me after storms to let me know how much it rained.  My rain gauge is always 1/4" to 1/2" higher than his.  The last time he commented that maybe he needed a new gauge.  So when Sheila and I went to Winter Gardens earlier in the week, I looked for one like mine.  Didn't find the exact same one but found one w/ the same sized glass gauge.  Doug laughed when he saw it and stuck it in amongst Anita's flowers.  We've had very little rain this summer and the forecast for today didn't include rain, but when he stuck the pole in it started to thunder.  (Well, not exactly at the same moment but it makes for a more gripping tale.)  It continued to thunder until soon it was raining down pretty good.  I've got the clothes that were on the line in the dryer tonight.  The flowers got an extra dose of water.   After the storm Doug texted me w/ the amount of rain in his new gauge.  We are still 1/4" off.
