Spatterdock (Yellow Pond Lily)

Whip is one of those dogs with a streamlined head and neck so collars easily slip off.  Ever since I got her she's worn a harness and now she's lost it.  I bought an orange one so she was noticible in case she got out on the road (which we had a few occurrances of early on in our acquaintance).  I'll admit it was pretty loose on her and she had slipped it before when it got caught on the stockade fence (she found a place to get under the fencing).  At least then I could retrieve the collar just by walking the perimeter.  This time, while I was puttering around outside she took after a rabbit out towards the woods.  Rabbits are harder to catch than squirrels.  Often I've watched from the deck while she took off after a rabbit down one of the paths.  The rabbit would suddenly take a hop into the tall grass w/ Whip hot on her trail.  As I watched the rabbit would simpley circle back of her and leisurely hop out of the tall grass toward me (I must not be much of a threat) while Whip leaped happily around in the tall grass looking for the little critter.  She's no scent hound!   I may find the collar eventually - after all it is blaze orange.  In the meantime, she wearing her old grey harness.  Was a little surprised it fit perfectly.  Means in the three years she's been here she's stayed as trim as when she first came.
