Haze on the Horizon

There is a haze over the countryside and the smell of wood burning is in the air.  Must be the Canadian wildfires and we are on the trailing edge of a low (or maybe it's the leading edge of a high) which is blowing the smoke this way.  There are air quality alerts out.  I'm one of those fortunate people who isn't affected by wood smoke ... or plant pollen ...  or hay fever.  Good thing.  There are yellow streaks on the deck table from pollen.  The woods are quite a distance from me so there had to be a significant amount for a noticable quantity to be blown this far.  Neighbor Doug is putting up hay.  He cut the field between us on Monday and is baling it today.  The smoke smell did remind me to get on-line and get a burning permit.   The Danish TV show The Seaside Hotel had an episode about Midsummer's Eve and how the Swedes celebrate it.  Since next week is Midsummer's Eve thought I'd build a bonfire that night to celebrate.  I'm not about to try jumping over it, pickled herring are out, and I don't plan on drinking until I'm tipsy.   Might give the traditions of strawberry desserts and washing my face in morning dew a try.
