Thirteen-lined Ground Squirrel
I know I've been talking alot about the weather lately. Brings to mind that Oscar Wilde quote "Conversation about the weather is the last refuge of the unimaginative." All I can say is that in the Northwoods the weather so directly affects the ebb and flow of life. The National Weather Service has different categories for severe weather threats - advisory, watch, warning - but I can't remember which is which. The area is currently under a Winter Storm Warning until noon tomorrow. (I'm watching it snow outside right now so why call it a 'warning'?) The NWS says we will have 1-3" of snow on the local map. However clicking in on just this county and the expectation rises to 4 - 8" of snow. Tonight I ran a hot bath and listened to the sound of the wind whistling past the house. Wouldn't be so bad to be snowed in for a couple of days.
