Window Seats
I've always wanted a window seat - ever since I watched Arsenic and Old Lace. At college I lived in a large old house on 111 Washington Street that had one built in. A wonderful place to study. So when I had this house built I wanted one for the southwest windows in the living room. Brent offered to make them for me and asked what size I wanted. "Large enough to put a body in." was my immediate reply. This gave him pause. However, a free-standing one that size would be difficult to transport or even move around so he suggested two half-sized ones that could be put together. He made corner blocks for them to mimic the block style on the windows. Because the Deacon's Bench has a piano hinge, I asked Brent if he would use that kind of hinge on the bench covers. These benches are really useful! He made four of them (two under both windows) so I use one for each season. The first bench is empty at the moment because the Spring dishcloths, towels, throws, pictures, and knickknacks are set out in the house. In June, I'll pack those back into the first bench and open up the second one that is filled w/ summer stuff. To the dog, the benches are a perch where she can look out the windows patrolling that no one trespasses on her meadow. The cats take them over on sunny afternoons in order to nap in the sun. Between you and me - each can hold a body, just have to fold it over.

Does the stowed body go from there to the sceptic tank hold?
Mr. Glotfelty warned me to never put a body in the septic system.
Arsenic and Old Lace was full of good ideas, it seems.
