Teaching Whip a High Five

Rachel spoke at a seminar north of here.  She drove all the way there from her home in the southern part of the state in the morning but stopped by my place afterward so she could get some sleep and drive home fresh in the morning.   I'd had a little garbage issue earlier.  I was pretty sure the garbage  bin had been emptied and I wanted to get it back off the edge of the road before 'rush hour' started at 3:30 p.m.  However, once outside, Whip had 'whipped' around the house and I saw the bird-feeder raiding squirrel head out over the snow covered meadow toward the safety of the woods.  Whip was trying her best to catch up but she would break through the snow crust in places.  I saw them both disappear over a mound.  Now I'd have to wait until Whip returned - didn't want to walk out to the road if she wasn't on a leash.  When she did return she had a dead squirrel in her mouth.  I don't know how she managed to catch the quicker and more manueverable creature.  Indy would also occassionally catch squirrels but she'd usually eat them.  Whip was very proud of her accomplishment but unsure what to do next.  I wasn't letting her back in the house w/ it.  She wandered around a bit until eventually digging a hole in a drift and interred the squirrel.   Then she happily trotted to the house, I hitched on her leash, and we walked down to bring the garbage bin back to it's spot.  Have a little while before the carcass reemerges from cold storage - will leave it where it is until then.
