Grandmother Clock

Watched the 'talking heads' this morning discuss the pros and cons of banning Tik Tok in the U.S.    There appears to be two schools of thought about why Tik Tok should be banned.  One is that it is owned by China and therefore China can garner information about (plus influence) Americans.  That could certainly be the case.  I'm guessing lots of organizations  know more about me than I want them to based on the ads presented whenever I get on-line.  (Why I used to get a bunch advertising Filipino wives though I never have figured out.)  Information brokers have existed even before the Internet.  Give a donation to one non-profit, for example, and you were, and still are, inundated w/ mail requesting money from similar organizations.  That's not some kind of cosmic coincidence - information about your preferences is a commodity sold to anyone who will pay.  The second  reason given to ban TikTok is it has a negative effect on mental health, bullying, and posters pushing unsafe activities.  It may do those things - probably not intentionally but as a foreseeable consequence of it's functionality.  Much like drug companies realized their pain killers could become addictive.  Why, however, aren't people held culpable for their actions?  You don't need Tik Tok for teenagers to bully anyone who isn't 'in'.  (Even a former president loves to call people derogatory names and his minions laugh!)  Why don't people investigate idiotic claims before spreading them?  Didn't all of our mothers admonish us w/ "You wouldn't jump off a cliff just because someone told you to, would you?"  I freely admit that I don't know what I'm talking about.  I haven't used Tik Tok or Instagram or even Facebook.  I know myself well enough to realize these apps could have a negative impact on me.   Plus I live w/ Blitz and Dunder ... I  see cats doing funny things in real time.

Grandmother clocks are a bit shorter and narrower than Grandfather clocks.  This one brother Brent made especially for me - simple lines and multi-functional.  Besides being a clock it is also used for display and storage.
