It's the start of the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). I assume it's a more fun weekend in more southern climes but in the Northwoods there aren't a lot of birds to count just now. While they won't be on the count, I did see these two trotting across the edge of the meadow this morning. Coyotes mate in February/March and whelp in April. Will be on the watch until then that the coyotes don't get comfortable coming to the meadow. Found a pair one year trying to dig a den out there which would have caused territorial fights. Hopefully, Whip and I can keep the meadow as our 'hunting grounds'.

Wow. Have you ever seen a coyote pup?
We have a big whiteboard up in the birdwatching room at the Nature Center for GBBC counts.
