Chest of Drawers
It's pledge week on PBS so only shows that are 'good for you' instead of educational are being shown. It's kinda like having bran muffins for breakfast (and not the tasty moist kind). Turned off the TV and tried to figure out what I could about a chest of drawers that's in my study. I remember it first being in my grandparent's upstairs bedroom. My grandfather made it from wood, painted it a beige-pink color, and then attached cactus wood to the entire outside. I'm guessing because the number of holes it's cholla cactus. My grandparents spent winters in Arizona so expect they gathered the cactus on their travels in the desert. For that reason I think it was built in the 50's. Mom told me the cactus wood smells. I hadn't noticed it until I moved the chest into a walk-in closet to store my clothes. It does emit a smell - kinda like old tobacco leaves? I moved the chest into the study. Lots of air movement there so no smell. It's used to organize gift wrapping items - ribbon, paper, tissue, bags, labels, etc. Gives the study a southwestern theme.
