Red Bellied Woodpecker
Rain this morning. Not a good thing during a Northwoods winter. Waited until afternoon before going out on my errands - shouldn't the roads be drier and temps higher than in the morning? I was wrong. The snow which is still piled everywhere from last week's storm acts like dams to keep the rain in deep puddles of slush. I walked into the grocery store in rain but when I left it was snowing so the afternoon temps were falling. Got home, put away the groceries, ate some takeout, and flopped down on the couch to look through my mail. I had two letters from my insurance company. I opened the first and the bold letters"NOTICE OF CANCELLATION" stood out on a line by themselves. I sat up straight and snippits from Judge Judy flashed through my mind. First I checked to see when it was cancelled. Not until March 10th. Whew - had time to figure this out. Next I checked to see why they were dropping me. "Your financial institution did not honor payment listed." OK. I don't keep close track of my finances but pretty sure I have enough to cover this. I pay insurance once a year and last April I'd changed banks. To be sure the change was done correctly, I'd physically gone to my insurance broker's office with my new checks and said I wanted to switch the automatic insurance payments (car and house) to this new account. Had signed paperwork for both accounts. Seemed probable that despite my efforts this was the process that had gone amiss. Called up the insurance broker. The bubbly rep on the phone assured me that my payment was taken from the new bank. She said I should contact them. I called the bank. The bank's stolid rep said I was not overdrawn (they would have told me) and no request had come though for the amount of the insurance payment in the last month. Called back to the bubbly rep to tell her the problem wasn't on my end. I suggested she should call the Insurance Company to verify they had the correct bank account. Then she should have them revoke the extra fees for non-payment and late payment, put the original insurance payment through again, AND make quite sure that my car insurance did not get cancelled. She fortunately took my suggestions to heart and called back to let me know everything would now be OK.
