Bison herd

Pictures from Paul Mayer.
Yesterday late in the day we got an inch of two of snow - no big deal.  When Whip and I went out for our nightly constitutional though we got smacked in the face w/ blowing snow.  While the snow had stopped, the wind was at gale force.   I got up an hour early and we went out for our morning constitutional.  My driveway was completely drifted shut.  I hated to do it but called my plow guy and asked if he could come in the next hour to open up my drive so I could get out to open up the polls.  Today was the primary.  Our ballot had only one race - State Supreme Court Judge.  Usually not a big draw.  Plus we still have a couple feet of snow from previous snowstorms, icy walkways from recent warm weather, and the local news head was warning of another major snowstorm expected to begin the night of Election Day.  That's why we were all surprised to have 22% of the registered voters come out to vote.  Polls closed at 8 p.m.   Because there was only the one race we were able to finish paperwork, call in totals to the County Clerk, and be in our cars by 8:30 pm.  The impending storm was beginning to rev up.  I drove home slowly.  Feels good to be tucked in and safe.  Won't be going anywhere for a few days.
