That's one big Easter bunny

Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox.  That's the easy way of saying how to determine the date of Easter.  It's actually the first Sunday after the first full moon after the ecclesiastical spring equinox.  According to the Bible, Jesus Christ's death and resurrection occurred around the time of the Jewish Passover.  Passover is celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Nisan.    To bring the dates of Passover and Easter into closer alighnment, Pope Gregory XIII in the late 1500's adopted the Gregorian calender and, for purposes of determining when Easter would occur, stated the ecclesiastical vernal equinox was March 21 (even though the first day of spring might actually occur on March 19 or 20).    The very earliest Easter can occur is March 22.  That last occurred in 1818 and the next one will be in 2285.  The very latest Easter date is April 25th.  The last time that happened was 1943 and won't happen again until 2038.
