Seat Covers
Before the weather warmed and the ground hardened, I should get the seat covers on the gator. They are made by a third party but are fitted for this type of seat. I got on their website and watched the video where the rep easily removed the driver's seat and slipped on the back cover and then the seat cover. The passenger's side is larger and the back cover can be slipped on in situ but the bottom seat needs to be removed to put the cover on. The rep then replaced everything - easy-peasy. I walked out to Mjolnir, tipped the front seat forward and using a ratchet unscrewed the four screws keeping the seat in place. Also tipped up the passenger seat and removed the two dowels and cotter pins keeping them in place. Put the covers on everything and then went to put the driver's seat back in place. Turns out the rep in the video has upper body strength that I don't possess. There was nothing to rest the seat on while I put each of the screws in place. I went over to the work bench and picked out three screwdrivers. I matched up the hole in the framework w/ the hole in the bottom of the seat for that screw and shoved a screwdriver in as far as it would go. Did the same w/ the next two holes. With the seat now balanced (precariously) on these points I could put in the fourth screw. Once it was hand tightened, I pulled out another screwdriver and put that screw in. Worked like a charm. I had the same issue when putting the passenger seat back. Nothing to balance the seat on and I couldn't hold it in place. Found that the plastic bin where Phil stores his old work clothes was the right height and I was able to push the dowels in place. Not sure about the cotter pins but I will figure out a way to get those back in their little holes eventually.
