Winter Naif

My brother said his nose had been dripping so when he went to bed he'd taken a tissue and fallen asleep w/ it in his hand.  He was surprised to find the tissue still in his hand when he awoke.  He decided to try it again the next night.  Same result.  He found it an interesting experiment.   One of the  premises of the scientific method is that results are replicable in a peer review.  Decided to try the 'clasped tissue' experiment this last week.  First I searched for information on 'hands during sleep'.  Found that clutching your hand during sleep is quite normal (though making a fist might be a symptom of other issues).  Didn't find anyone reporting a similar experiment to my brother's.  The first night I put a tissue in my left hand and fell asleep on my left side.  Woke up some hours later and, voila, the tissue was still there.  For grins I changed hands and was soon sawing logs again.  When I woke up again, no tissue.  It wasn't far away so grasped it again and went off to dreamland.  When the alarm went off the tissue was no where to be found.  Tried the experiment the next night w/ the other hand and got the same results.  However, every night since then I haven't been able to hang on to a tissue through even a portion of the night.   I evaluated my experiment's parameters and decided there might be too many variables to get useable results.  Which hand?  Which sleeping position?  Length of sleep?  Room temperature?  How many pets are in the bed w/ me?  etc.    Experiment also ended since the Kleenex box at the head of the bed is now empty.
