Library Volunteer meeting today at noon. None of us work together so it's good to meet occasionally and the librarian likes to point out changes in procedures. We volunteers like to talk about other stuff. So it's a bit of a battle between the librarian's agenda and what we discuss. We were all happy when she said all of the head librarians in our Northwoods area had decided they had overreacted to what constituted damage to a book. It's one thing to find a small ink mark on a page and something different to find torn pages. Also, as far as we knew, all of the libraries in our area no longer have fines for overdue books. The change started w/ Covid but I doubt the libraries will go back to imposing fines. Not everyone understood how the door counter worked. Not something anyone planned on talking about but it generated quite the conversation and resulted in a change to procedures. We didn't get to everything the librarian wanted to talk about but it was a productive meeting.
