Blue Jays

Just shy of -20 this morning.  Good day for some baking.  My cousin's wife had asked for my mother's cinnamon roll recipe.  Her husband had remarked that the best cinnamon rolls he'd ever had were the one's Mom used to make.  I'm pretty sure I've looked for the recipe before and I don't have it (maybe someone else does?)  I've tried to replicate her cinnamon rolls but the ones I make have a tougher texture and look funny (not the 'ha-ha' kind).  I grabbed the dough I'd allowed to rise overnight on the counter, rolled it out, and cut it into strips.  If I couldn't make cinnamon rolls like Mom's, maybe I could make my own 'thing.'  I dunked the strips in melted butter, rolled them in cinnamon sugar, tied them into a loose knot and put each  in a muffin pan.  They came out light and fluffy.   Topped them off w/ sliced almonds and a simple thick glaze.  I'll write back to my cousin that I don't have the recipe and the next time I have guests I'll serve them my knots.
