The two brightest celestial objects in our sky (after the sun that is) are the Moon and the planet Venus. Tonight they were close to each other in the constellation Sagittarius just after sunset. The Moon is 3 days old - meaning it's been 3 days since New Moon (when the Moon is on the same side of the Earth as the Sun). It's 10% illunimated.. Venus is farily bright at magntude -4.6 right now and is 44% illuminated. May not have seen any aurora lately but that doesn't mean there isn't anything else worthwhile to watch in the night sky.
