Deer in October

Today was the first day of Holy Week here in the Northwoods.  When I hear the Department of Natural Resources refer to it as the 'gun deer season' I envision the deer with guns too.  Would make the hunt much more of a sporting event.  The DNR tends to say 'deer harvest' rather than the 'deer hunt' to make it more palatable to the non-hunting public.  You can also request them to send you a 'First Harvest' certificate commemorating your first kill.  I heard some shots just before sunrise (the official start).  But then there is no CSI group checking exactly when a deer is shot.  I will wear my blaze orange on walks for the next nine days.  There shouldn't be any hunters near me but I'd prefer to err on the safe side when guys are running around the countryside w/ guns.

Reminds me of the picture I saw of the deer driving a truck with a dead hunter strapped across the hood with the caption of "Hunt gone bad".
