When I built the house I picked a place in the field on the edge of a slough, not too close to the edge of the property, not too close to the woods. When the driveway was put in, I asked that it intersect the county road at the top of the hill and be straight all the way to the house. Two random locations. While the driveway is basically oriented north-south it might not be true. Sleipnir was built on one edge of the driveway so it's large facing south windows also might not be true, I wondered - how far off south were those windows? I figure I have a leeway of about 14 degrees one way or the other to still have maximum winter sun. So on these morning constitutionals I've been siting down the edge of the building to see where the sun rises on the horizon. This week it rose along the edge of the building. A little before the autumnal equinox but close enough.
