Crabapples

I drove on the old highway 40 into the village  today.  Even though that stretch is less than a mile long, it was pretty exciting.  The village spent the summer ripping up roads to replace water lines and to resurface the streets.  It was a summer of taking the long way around to bypass 'Road Closed' signs.   Finally the signs have all been taken down.  Enjoyed the smooth roadway but was surprised that one stop sign had red flags sticking out on either side.  Of course - head slap - eye roll.  The old highway 40 through the village never had a stop sign.  It does now.  Must admit, it makes more sense to put a stop sign on this side road and allowing drivers on Main Street to have the right-of-way.  Am just a little surprised the county road supervisors OK'd making the change.  Remember, this is the county that has only one automated stop-and-go light and we didn't get that until the 21st century.
