Rain Gutters
The morning of July 4th, the rain gutter guy came out to give me an estimate. It seemed a little odd to me - a Sunday morning, a holiday, and before 7 a.m. Still I admired his hussle. He said he would send me an estimate on Monday or Tuesday. Two weeks later I got it and OK'ed the work. I hadn't heard from the company since then. Hadn't pushed it because some of the work was for Sleipnir and I still don't have it backfilled w/ gravel. Early this morning I got a call saying they would be out within the hour to do the work. "OK." I replied. "Let's get it done." When the guys came we went back over what was to be done. Gutters on the two sides of Haven that don't have a deck. Should eliminate the ice buildup I get next to the front door this winter. They also put gutters on either side of Sleipnir and showed me how to take the short bolts out. When they come to put in gravel around the building and/or when I put a rain barrel next to the building I can remove the downspouts. The side of Mjolnir facing the road has no windows or doors. However, it does have large white lines running up the grey siding from the split HVAC outside unit which feed into the inside unit. I had thought of painting them but put it off - didn't know how well paint would stick or if it might affect the viability of the insulation on the wires. So I told the guys to use their artistic skills and see if there was something they could do to camoflage the wires w/ rain gutter material. Finished everything within a couple of hours. I watched while they covered the wires, letting the metal bend in behind the wires. They didn't attach it to the siding but let it sit on the existing brackets used for the wiring. When he was done I pulled on what he had installed. That sucker wasn't budging and it gives that side of the building a more finished look. I'm happy.
