American Toad

I slept through the night like a baby.  My make-do electric blanket was wonderful.  However, Saturday is my wash-the-sheets day so had to undo everything.   Yesterday's storms had blown through so I could hang the sheets out on the line but it was still pretty cool.  Decided to make fatayers.  Cousin Dawn had given me a recipe she picked up on-line but her advice was to 'make it my own'.  So I used spicy hashbrowns, went easier on the garlic, and added the shredded colby cheese as a topping instead of mixing it in.  Used flaky biscuit dough rather than the heavier old-fashioned.  While I did all that listened to 'Rome: Augustus to the Fall' - I'm up to Emperor Julian so it must be getting close to the end.  Forgot that Labor Day is coming up.  I may be celebrating it on my own but that's no reason not to do something special.  Bopped over to the grocery store and picked up some stuff I can roast over a fire this weekend.  Later when the sun finally came out, Whip and I went out on the deck where I started a new book though I spent a lot of time watching a toad trying to decide if he should take a swim in my watering can.  (He did.)  After an hour, I was at a stopping spot in the book and Whip smelled faintly of skunk.  Guess we both had a good time.  I wanted to spend some time working on the jigsaw puzzle I have in Mjolnir.  Whip wanted to come w/ and against my better judgement I let her.  Once she realized it was just me working on a puzzle, she curled up on a blanket and fell asleep.  Guess she can be happy w/o jumping up on everything.   Tonight I watched Svengoolie present "War of the Colossol Beast" and texted back and forth w/ a friend who was watching it from her home.  While not the most productive day, it was the kind of day I dreamed of being able to do when I was still working in the Big City.
